Partnering with University of Michigan Health Systems for a Holistic Approach to Cancer Care
Metro Health is raising the level of quality patient care, collaboration and community access through a joint venture with the University of Michigan Department of Radiation Oncology. The new partnership will bring radiation oncology services to the new Cancer Center at Metro Health Village this fall...providing comprehensive care in a pleasant, therapeutic environment. The new center also features an extension of the Warren Reynolds Cancer Resource Library, a service of the Lacks Cancer Center at Saint Mary's Health Care.
Nestled in a peaceful setting, the new 21, 500-square-foot Cancer Center offers a broad range of cancer services and will give local patients access to cutting-edge clinical trials close to home. The location on a secluded southeast corner of the 170-acre Metro Health Village was specifically chosen for the tranquil atmosphere that provides a spiritual, social and visual respite for patients and their families. Metro Health is partnering with Cancer and Hematology Centers of Western Michigan to provide medical oncology services under the direction of oncology and hematology specialist Michael Zakem, DO. He is joined by Martin Bury, MD. In addition, a director of radiation oncology will be named this fall. Meet our Medical Team.
Along with space for office visits with oncologists, chemotherapy and radiation services, the beautiful new center features a dedicated pharmacy, lab and the Warren Reynolds Cancer Resource Library branch that includes books, online access and comprehensive information on cancer.
