How to Tell if You are Having a Heart Attack

Warning Signs:

  • Severe Chest Pain
  • Cold Sweats
  • Discomfort - in one or both arms, the back, neck, jaw or stomach
  • Lightheadedness, Weakness or Nausea
  • Paleness
  • Shortness of Breath

Women and diabetics may have more subtle symptoms, such as increased weakness and fatigue or nausea and vomiting.

Do not take these symptoms lightly. Seek medical attention immediately, no matter how minor the symptoms may feel. Call 911. Paramedics will come to you immediately when you ask 911 for help. With their care, your chances of survival improve dramatically. Do not wait it out, and do not drive yourself!

Heart muscle tissue dies every minute an artery is blocked - especially in the first hour. Call 911 at the first sign of symptoms.
