Ophthalmologist Joins Metro Health

Return to News & Events

In a continuing move to provide convenient access to medical specialty services, Metro Health Hospital today announced that ophthalmologist Douglas A. Doyle, D.O., has joined its staff.

The Wyoming acute-care hospital said that Doyle, who is board-certified, provides a full slate of ophthalmology services treating infants to seniors, including diabetic eye exams, glaucoma management, cataract and eyelid surgery, as well as routine eye exams and services.  He will provide ophthalmology services at Metro Health's neighborhood outpatient center in Rockford and in Hudsonville when that site opens in March.

"Dr. Doyle is the first ophthalmologist to locate a practice at our centers located in the suburbs," said Mike Faas, president and CEO of Metro Health.  "As we continue to expand the scope of the services that we provide our patients, strengthening our specialty areas is a natural next step. We are very pleased to welcome Dr. Doyle to our team."

Prior to joining Metro Health, Doyle served as an ophthalmologist with Grand Rapids Eye Institute treating patients in Grand Rapids and Sheridan.  A native of Northville, Mich., Doyle holds his doctorate of osteopathic medicine from Michigan State University.  His post-doctoral work includes residencies at Metro Health and at Michigan State University.  He also holds a bachelor of science degree cum laude from Hillsdale College.

Doyle is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Osteopathic Association, the American College of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology, the Michigan Ophthalmologic Society and the Kent County Osteopathic Society.

He resides in Grand Rapids with his wife, Shawn, and their six children.
