Orthopedic Surgeon Joins Metro Health

Return to News & Events

As part of an ongoing plan to expand its medical specialty services, Metro Health Hospital today announced that orthopedic surgeon Kevin Howard, D.O. has joined its staff.

The Wyoming acute care hospital said that Howard, who is board certified and one of Metro's first orthopedic surgeons, provides a wide range of orthopedic services including those related to sports such as shoulder, knee and ankle arthroscopy and reconstructive procedures; adult and pediatric fracture care; hand surgery, including endoscopic carpal tunnel surgery and wrist arthroscopy; and joint replacement. He will provide orthopedic services at Metro Health's Southwest neighborhood outpatient center located at 2215 44th St. S.W. in Wyoming.

"The addition of Dr. Howard to our fine team of physicians further expands the range of services that we provide our patients," said Mike Faas, president and CEO of Metro Health.  "His experience and solid reputation as a board-certified orthopedic surgeon serve not only to strengthen Metro's expansion into other specialty areas, but also to reinforce our goal of being a single-stop health-care provider that meets the needs of all our patients."

Prior to joining Metro Health, Howard had a private practice in Lansing where he also taught orthopedic medicine to residents.  Howard holds his doctorate of osteopathic medicine from Michigan State University.  His post-doctoral work includes residencies at MSU and Ingham Regional Medical Center in Lansing.  He also holds a bachelor of science degree from University of Michigan.

Howard is a member of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics, the American Osteopathic Association and the Michigan Orthopedic Society.  He is also an associate clinical professor at Michigan State University's College of Medicine.
