Metro Health Hospital has been named among the top 10 percent of inpatient rehabilitation facilities for delivering effective, efficient and patient-centered care.
The Wyoming, Michigan-based community hospital received the recognition from Uniform Data System for Medical Rehabilitation, a not-for-profit corporation that administers the world’s largest medical rehabilitation database. The rankings, which covered 2009, evaluated more than 800 inpatient rehab facilities by using a program evaluation model that ranked numerous factors, including length of stay, acuity, functional independence and others.
“We are pleased to present this award to Metro Health in recognition of the excellent care it provides its patients,” said Dr. Sam Markello, associate director of UDSMR. “We developed this report card as a tool to identify and recognize facilities that perform at a high level, to work with them to learn how they achieve high performance and to share what we learn with others.”
Each year, Metro Health serves more than 130,000 patients from across West Michigan. Recognized as a Top 100 Hospital for three consecutive years, Metro Health offers a broad range of services, including inpatient and outpatient services, emergency, surgery, intensive care, rehabilitation, wellness and community education.
